Continuous Tenses: Present and Past:-



Past Continuous Tense In English Grammar:


A sentence in which action is in progress and it relates to present e.g.

a) He is going to school.
b) I am doing my work.
c) The teachers are fulfilling their commitment.

What do we need to remember here?

Helping verb i.e. I, am & are and form of verb which is 1st+ing (present participle).

Using "Is": It is used with 3rd person singulars and singular nouns.
Usage of "Are": It is used with 2nd person, 3rd person plurals and plural nouns.
Using "Am": It is used with 1st person singular.

Note: All continuous (progressive) tenses take present participle form of verb.



Present Continuous Tense IN English Grammar:


A sentence in which action is complete and it relates to present e.g.

a) He has gone to school. b) I have done my work. c) The teacher has fulfilled her commitment.

What do we need to remember here?

Helping verb i.e. has and have and form of verb which is 3rd (past participle).

I. Using "Has": It is used with 3rd person singular i.e. He, she, it and single nouns e.g. Aslam, David, Tom etc.
II. Usage of "Have": It is used with 1st person singular, 2nd person and all plurals.

Note: All perfect tenses take past participle form of verb.
